A survey has shown that online games account for 20% of game spending in the US, and 16% here in the UK.
The research, carried out by TNS and Gamindustry.com, asked over 13,000 players in the UK, Europe and the US about their game spending. As shown on Gamasutra, it concluded that 64% of the nation-wide budget here in the UK goes on console and heldheld games, compared to 57% in the US. 20% of spending in both countries goes on PC games, the rest goes on Mobile phone games, MMOs and Game Portals.
The survey also asked gamers how they liked to pay when using gaming portals. The results showed that the French prefer to pay over the phone, US and UK gamers tend to opt for credit card payments and the rest of Europe primarily use online payment accounts.
