Steam has banned around 2,500 players for cheating in multiplayer matches of Modern Warfare 2, according to Infinity Ward.
Robert Bowling, creative strategist at Infinity, informed fans of the action via Twitter:
“Top men are on it. In fact, the Steam ban hammer is coming down on about 2,500 confirmed [Modern Warfare 2] cheaters on PC today.”
That's good news for anyone who's been the victim of a cheater, but note Bowling only said “confirmed cheaters”. Hopefully this means more bans are still to come, leaving us to play MW2 the way Activision intended.
However, bearing in mind that there are millions of players currently enjoying the latest addition to the CoD franchise, I'd guess that 2,500 is only the tip of the iceburg.
