Another week, another gem from Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford.
In an interview with OXM, Pitchford spoke about some of the games the developer had worked on in the past including its Bond game, Nightfire.
It seems he did not get on well with Danjaq, the company that owns the right to the James Bond license, or Die Another Day producer Barbara Broccoli.
"Albert Broccoli died while were in development and Barbara [Broccoli, producer of the Bond films] took over and she decided like, 'we don't want Bond to be violent. We don't want him to shoot anybody!'" he said.
"And we had these awesome things, like we had these gadget glasses with an X-ray mode. And you know what Bond would want to do, he would want to adjust it to look at all the girls' underwear.
"So like, I put this in a feature, you could look at all the NPCs who were girls and you can see their fuckin' underwear, and you could adjust the X-ray goggles to do that, and Barbara had a big problem with it. We had to fight to keep that in the game."
Activision now owns the license for Bond games, having released a mediocre Quantum of Solace tie-in in 2008.
What would you like to see in a Bond game? Another tie-in or a new story? Violence or non-violence? Misogyny or no misogyny? Let us know in the comments section.
