Fifth Professor Layton Game Detailed

Level-5 has detailed the next Japanese Professor Layton game, titled "Kiseki no Kamen," or "Mask of Miracles."

The news comes from a Japanese event for Professor Layton and the Devil's Flute, the fourth Layton game, which is due to launch in Japan today.

Mask of Miracles takes place in Casino City, a city that has been created by the power of the titular Mask of Miracles, which happens to be the same mask worn by the villain of Devil's Flute. Chasing said villain, our heroes end up embroiled in the mystery of the mask, which is aptly titled as it's said to be able to grant the wishes of those who own it.

Professor Layton and the Diabolical BoxThe fourth and fifth Layton games are prequels to the original trilogy, and apparently, another movie may also be in the works. December will see the first Layton film, Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, hit cinemas in Japan, and Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino has said that the "second season" of Layton - which began with Devil's Flute and will end with an unnamed third game -  was envisioned with another movie.

So! Two more Layton games to go, with one now detailed, and probably another film. Considering we've only just had the second Layton game in the west, it's fair to say that we'll be waiting on the rest of series for awhile.

Mask of Miracles is due out in Japan in Fall 2010, while Devil's Flute should hit Japanese stores today. Thanks to Andriasang for this.
