EA: No Plans For Need For Speed SHIFT PC DLC

EA has revealed it has no plans to release any downloadable content for the PC version of Need for Speed SHIFT.

Earlier in the week, it was announced that the first DLC pack for SHIFT, the Team Racing Pack, will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 in December. The pack adds a new online mode, Team Racing, as well as five new legendary cars including the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427.

Need for Speed ShiftWe contacted EA to find out when the Team Racing Pack would make it to the PC version of the game and were told the company currently has “no plans” for any PC DLC for SHIFT.

How do PC SHIFT owners feel about EA’s decision? Let us know in the comments section below.

Well that's just not fair now, is it?

When I bought the game I was under no impression that I'd bought an "inferior" version and would later on miss out on extras like DLCs.

I don't know what you or EA were smoking at the time, but the patch and Team Racing DLC for the PC version is released on the 1st December, the same day as the 360 version.

See needforspeed.com, or their forum for details.

I think this has since changed since the official line from EA this morning in the UK who confirmed it will not be coming, hence the story. Of course we are awaiting some sort of further comment from EA since the forum updates.

Well no. If it had "changed" then your first article would have correctly noted the quote on the press release and their website said

"The Team Racing Pack is available December 1 on Xbox 360 and PC and December 3 on PlayStation 3 in Europe. North American gamers will having to wait until December 10th. It is a FREE download.

Whereas, clearly you reported what it said incorrectly in the first place, and then when someone asked in the comments "what about the PC", you obviously asked the wrong person at EA who presumably had no idea what you were asking about, and so just gave you the standard "we have no plans.." line.

Bottom line, they've coded the DLC and patch and tested it for the PC, they aren't about not to release it on some whim are they?

I guess the headline got you some hits though...job done.

Actually having re-read your comment, I get the idea you're not saying they changed from releasing to not releasing. You're trying to say this morning they weren't releasing DLC and a patch for the PC but now they are?

Do you really think they coded this for the PC in a few hours after reading a story on here? LOL...it's worse than I thought...

No. What I am saying is that what was reported was at the time the official line from EA. Nothing is reported on this site without verification from an official source and we obviously always run with the official line and information we are given at the time. I hope that clears up any confusion.

Nope, it doesn't clear up anything.

As soon as we get further word from EA, who has the final say on what DLC gets released, we'll post an update. As it stands at the moment, EA are still sticking to their statement as of this morning.

No worries, the patch is released on Monday and it'll either have the DLC in or it won't.

Obviously the mystery isn't whether it'll be released - because that will answer itself. But, if it isn't released then the story about why there was a sudden incongruence between their offical site announcing it, and the press release which didn't.

You'd probably need a better, or at least a different source to find out what really happened...

But, you aren't going to win a Pulitzer, so I wouldn't sweat it. Wait for the next Press release from EA to retype and play a bit of L4D2, that's what I'm going to do ;)
