Microsoft is working on a new in-game help system for the Xbox 360, according to a patent filed by the company.
The patent, filed by Microsoft's games strategy director Andre Vrignaud, reveals plans for a system that allows players to access tips, illustrations and guides submitted by other players to help them through difficult spots in a game. The information would be accessible during the game at the point where help is needed.
According to the patent, spotted by Siliconera, players submitting tips will be able to grab screenshots and video, then use a digital pencil to highlight anything noteworthy. Voice recordings can also be added to help further. These tips and guides will be 'tagged' to certain objects, items and situations.
If all this goes ahead, games developers will also be able to use this system to create guides, and players will be able rate these higher than user-created content.
It's currently not clear, however, if this will only be available to Xbox Gold members or all Xbox LIVE users. Check back for more news on that later.
