NCSoft Bans 16,000 Aion Users

NCSoft has banned 16,000 users from playing its MMO Aion.

Following a server-wide reboot yesterday, NCSoft revealed on the game’s official forums that, rather than maintenance, the downtime was needed to ban 16,000 users.

“Over the last week, we’ve been working on a list, we’ve been checking it twice, and today we found out who was naughty or nice,” said a post on the forum.

Reasons for banning are varied, but NCSoft made it clear it had gathered weeks of info on ‘bottlers; (those who use third party software in game) or taking part in real money trading.

TAion - Tower of Eternityhos who feel they have been unjustly banned can contact NCSoft here, although the company insists it has “sophisticated processes and procedures in place that help us keep unwarranted banning to a minimum.”

“Our goal is to ensure our legitimate players are having the best game experience possible. Please note that you don’t need to submit multiple tickets, as we will review a specific case only once,” said the post.

“We obviously take these violations seriously, but also want to make sure that legitimate players aren’t banned unnecessarily.”
