Not just the best boxing game on the market, EA Sports’ Fight Night Round 4 is getting pretty good at predicting the outcome of real matches.
In EA’s latest simulation of real world fights, it pit Miguel Cotto against Manny Pacquiao in the Fight Night Round 4 engine and the results were remarkably similar to the actual outcome.
EA predicted that despite some early success, Cotto would be outboxed by the Filipino phenomenon, with Pacquaio dominating the majority of the fight and winning on points. In the real world fight, Pacquiao knocked Cotto down early in the fight, taking control of the middle rounds, before the ref stopped the fight in the 12th round.
It’s a good result for Fight Night Round 4’s REAL (Record, Evaluate, Adapt, Learn) AI system which triggers fighters to adapt their tactics throughout the course of a fight based on their successes and failures.
Earlier this year, Fight Night Round 4 also correctly predicted the winner of the Hatton – Pacquiao fight.
