Speaking in the company’s Q1 earnings call, president and CEO Melanie Mroz revealed that SouthPeak picked up the TNA license following the demise of Midway earlier in the year.
“In this quarter we purchased, in bankruptcy court, certain assets relating to video games based on the TNA Impact Wrestling brand that were previously owned and under development by Midway Games,” said Mroz.
“We anticipate to complete development on our first SKU with this franchise and launch our first original TNA product this winter, entitled TNA Impact: Cross the Line for the PSP and PSPgo.”
TNA Impact was released by Midway in September last year on PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 to lukewarm reviews. A sequel was reportedly in the works but was subsequently scuppered by Time Warner’s acquisition of Midway in July this year.
