EA's offering to the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) was announced earlier this year after the success of THQ's UFC franchise.
Amid the controversy surrounding licensing crossovers with THQ's game, EA has stuck to its guns and has pushed its game, emphasising its roster of fighters will represent MMA globally.
Taking that as a cue, IncGamers asked whether or not we'd see more variety in fighters as a result, with the emphasis on female fighters.
Charles Laing, development director, told IncGamers that the team had considered female fighters.
"We've thought about a lot of stuff; rule sets, female fighters, all kinds of different things," he said.
"We're not trying to cut ourselves off from options, but what we do provide, we want to know we're providing the best of. "
Hedrick Rivero, designer on MMA, echoed these comments, but neither one of them denied that we could well see female fighters in the franchise.
MMA works on the same engine as Fight Night Round 4, but is customised to replicate MMA fighting styles.
"We're trying to do what we did with Madden and, to an extent, FIFA," said Rivero.
"We're trying to educate the world about MMA, and fighting styles outside of UFC."
Asked whether we'll be able to create our own characters, a sly smile and a twinkle of the eye was all the comment we received.
