SEGA Europe and SEGA of America have dated Bayonetta for their respective countries.
Bayonetta, starring a witch who attacks with guns, magic, swords, whips, torture devices, and plenty more, is a game oft-compared to Devil May Cry. Both focus on stylishly dispatching enemies with a mixture of long and short-range attacks in a third-person perspective, anyway, and both are directed by Hideki Kamiya - who also created Viewtiful Joe. That's quite a list of accomplishments.
Either way, the game - which we've known for awhile was delayed until 2010 - will indeed be coming in its estimated time window of January 2010.
America will see a release on 5 January, but poor old Europe will have to wait until 8 January, as per usual.
This comes as Bayonetta hits Japan, where the Xbox 360 version racked up an impressive 40/40 from Japanese mag Famitsu. As Famitsu has four people score each game, that's four scores of 10/10. Impressive. The PS3 version did score slightly less at 38/40, but either way it sounds like it's a pretty good game - particularly when you consider that Famitsu has only ever given eleven other games a perfect 40/40 since the mag began in 1986.
If you're still not convinced, we hear there'll be a demo at some point, and won't just be a section pulled out of the game. We do like it when demos feature original content.
