Electronic Arts and Double Fine have announced the first downloadable content pack for Brutal Legend.
The pack, titled "Tears of the Hextadon," includes two new maps for the multiplayer Stage Battles. The first, Circle of Tears, is set on a circular battlefield carved out by "vile waters." The second, Death's Fjord, is set on a mountain pass with plenty of fan geysers below - but there's no cover for those trying to capture them.
As a bonus, everyone who downloads the pack will receive a free axe: the Blade of Ormagöden.
"I play Brutal Legend online every night," said Tim Schafer, Double Fine Productions president, "and I need more maps! Circle of Tears is named after the crying of my vanquished foes on the battlefield, and Death's Fjord is obviously a tribute to my Nordic ancestors, and their love of fan geysers and... Well, actually I just thought the name was cool." Good to know.
The pack will hit Xbox LIVE on 3 November at the price of 400 Microsoft Points, but the really lucky players are those on PS3. While it'll hit two days later on 5 November, Tears of the Hextadon is going to be completely free on the PlayStation Network until 19 November, at which point it will become £3.99 GBP.
Despite the flaws it had, we really, really liked Brutal Legend. Check out our review and find out why.
