The British Board Of Film Classification (BBFC) has awarded Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 an 18 rating.
According to the BBFC’s website, the decision was made as the game contains “strong bloody violence” although it also confirms that it was passed with no cuts made.
Intriguingly, the BBFC has the game listed simply as Modern Warfare 2, despite Activision’s decision to hold on to the Call of Duty prefix earlier this year. It’s probably a mistake given that the packaging we’ve seen up to now sports the full title.
The BBFC’s days of rating games in the UK are numbered following the Digital Britain report which revealed the responsibility will transfer to the Pan-European Game Information System (PEGI), probably next year.
