Abbey Road has begun to roll out onto the various Rock Band Music Stores for The Beatles: Rock Band.
The album, promised a long time ago as the first one that would hit post-launch of The Beatles: Rock Band, should hit the Xbox 360 and Wii Music Stores today with the PS3 release to follow on 22 October. That's Thursday.
Being that The Beatles: Rock Band already contains a load of songs from Abbey Road - Come Together, Something, Octopus's Garden, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Here Comes The Sun, and The End - the DLC release is a little bit odd. We'll try to explain.
Assuming you're on Xbox 360 or PS3, you have a choice. You can either purchase three songs individually - Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh! Darling, and Because - or you can buy the "Complete The Album Pack."
The "Complete The Album Pack" contains the above singles, in addition to the complete B-side 16-minute medley containing You Never Give Me Your Money, Sun King, Mean Mr. Mustard, Polythene Pam, She Came in Through the Bathroom Window, Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight, and The End. The following songs can also be played as 1-3 song sets based on how they were recorded.
- You Never Give Me Your Money
- Sun King / Mean Mr Mustard
- Polythene Pam / She Came in Through the Bathroom Window
- Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End
- Her Majesty
Individual songs cost £0.99 GBP/€1.49 EUR/$1.99 USD/160 Microsoft Points, while the Complete The Album Pack will cost a rather more substantial £10.46 GBP/€11.37 EUR/$16.99 USD/1360 Microsoft Points.
Then there's the Wii, which doesn't support full album purchases, and so has another setup for the DLC. Players can purchase the following tracks individually at 200 Wii Points, barring Her Majesty, which is 100 Wii Points:
- Maxwell's Silver Hammer
- Oh! Darling
- Because
- You Never Give Me Your Money
- Her Majesty
There are also a variety of multi-track medleys sets available, priced at 350 Wii Points per pack.
- Sun King / Mean Mr. Mustard
- Polythene Pam / She Came in Through the Bathroom Window
- Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End
So there you have it. The Wii and 360 versions of the DLC should all be available today, while PlayStation 3 users have to wait until Thursday.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is due out as DLC in November, followed by Rubber Soul in December. You'll be able to work out when they're due as the sound of my sobbing, at having to write another news item as complex as this one, gets louder.
