Microsoft has issued a warning to anyone trying to use illegal copies of Forza 3 or Borderlands on LIVE.
Xbox LIVE users who decide to break the law and use pirated copies of 360 titles now have Microsoft waving the ban stick at them. Anyone who attempts to play a newly released title such as Forza 3 on the service with a game purchased from dodgy Dave down the market could be removed from LIVE forever, according to Kotaku. Ouch!
Microsoft is watching the LIVE service very closely when new titles are reaching their release date to try and stamp out piracy. Microsoft's Stephen Toulouse Tweeted about the ban enforcement to reassure gamers that legitimately purchased copies that have been picked up early from shops will not be affected :
"Don't worry folks, anyone who bought a copy early is ok. In general, if you got a receipt, play away. These are illegit copies we're hitting, You know, when you play a pre-release title on LIVE when I know you shouldn’t have it, it’s not hard for me to figure out."
The lesson here: don't pirate games. If you want play it, pay for it. Yes, they are watching you!
