Sony Considers More TV Players For PS3

Sony is looking into bringing more on-demand TV players to the PS3.

PS3 owners recently gained access to the BBC iPlayer via a firmware update and there has been speculation as to whether Sony would bring more of the UK’s on demand web TV players (like 4OD and Demand Five) to the console.

We spoke to a Sony spokesperson about the issue and, although cagey on the details, they did reveal Sony is “looking at all options.”

The BBC iPlayer has proved successful on the PS3, accounting for ten per cent of all iPlayer viewing, so we won’t be surprised if we see more TV content on the PS3 in the near future, especially considering rival Microsoft’s Sky TV deal.

I'm buying someone a console for xmas and the reason I went with PS3 as opposed to a 360 is because of this on demand tv facility. Very happy to hear they're thinking about other services too.
