The developer of the troubled MMO 'Stargate Worlds' has said that there will be no further updates on the development of the game until more investors can be found.
This recent news came to light after the official Stargate Worlds site closed down for maintenance, and didn't open again for several days. The SGW Twitter and Facebook pages also remained silent, prompting worried fans to start asking questions. Although the site is now back up, according to Cheyenne Mountain's CEO Timothy N. Jenson, it seems the future of the game is still in question.
In a statement to Massively, Jenson confirmed the reason for the temporary site closure was due to a change in DNS server providers. He went on to say that despite the huge amount of enthusiasm and excitement for SGW from fans, investors and the development team, funding is still a problem.
“As for the Stargate Worlds game and Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, Inc., our company has struggled in the current economic climate to raise the funding needed to successfully develop and publish our MMORPG.” He continued, “we will not be able to provide any updates on the development of Stargate Worlds until sufficient funding is available.”
This follows a long period of bad news for Cheyenne Mountain and Stargate Worlds. Earlier in the year, the company was sued for an unpaid open account, after an employee of the company allegedly make a website called DaysSinceCheyenneMountainEmployeesHaveBeenPaid.com, which simply displayed a number that increased by one every day. The number got to around 125 days before the site was closed down.
