EA Sports has announced it will release Madden NFL Arcade on XBLA and PSN in December.
Madden NFL Arcade is a five on five American football title developed by EA Tiburon, the same team behind Madden NFL 10.
The game features stylized visuals, 32 NFL teams, “distinctive” stadia and, more importantly, new rules. There are no field goals or penalties in Madden NFL Arcade – instead each team is given four downs to advance 60 yards and the first to score 30 points wins.
In addition to the accessible gameplay, EA has also introduced 13 unique Game Changers which "break the game wide open on a single play." For example a Game Changer may allow you to bring on extra linemen to take down the opposition quarterback, freeze an opposition player, turn off your opponent’s passing icons and more.
“When you look around the office and see your whole team playing and having tons of fun with it, you know the game hit the right mark,” said EA’s Nathan Stewart.
“We have diehard Madden fans who have worked on the franchise for a decade, and more casual gamers who are all playing together and enjoying it. If our productivity the past few weeks is any indication, we’ve created a game that everyone will love.”
Madden NFL Arcade is due for release in November, priced at 1200 MS Points on live and $14.99 USD on PSN.
