Namco Bandai has confirmed the upcoming ‘reimagination’ of 1988 coin-op smash Splattehouse is coming to Europe.
The game follows the story of college boy Rick Taylor as he searches for his girlfriend who disappeared after a visit to the mysterious West Mansion. After encountering other-worldy creatures, he soon discovers the Terror Mask which provides him with superhuman strength and the ass-kicking begins.
Splatterhouse will feature an all new story penned by Judge Dredd author Gordon Rennie and a game world which extends beyond the mansion setting of the original. A dynamic combat system will allow players to smash bones and remove limbs with gusto, using Rick’s bare hands a variety of weapons including the classic 2x4. Rick will also have some new tricks up his sleeve in the form of jumping and climbing and he’ll be able to reanimate the corpses of fallen enemies to fight alongside him.
Splatterhouse is due for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 next year.
