Don't Expect Professor Layton On Wii

Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

Level 5 has revealed they will not be working on a Professor Layton title for Wii anytime soon.

In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, Level 5 CEO Akihiro Hino said they were looking to continue development on the DS for the trilogy.

"This trilogy comes to a conclusion with Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel, but we will be releasing the first title of the new trilogy, Professor Layton and the Flute of Malevolent Destiny in Japan," said Hino.

Hino goes on to say that the new trilogy will also be a puzzle solving game and will include new bonus modes which will increase the longevity of the game, however there are currently "no plans for a Wii release".

It's completely possible, given the time it's taken for the original trilogy to hit the West, that Level 5 may consider moving onto the Wii platform, however, we reckon there will be a new Nintendo console out before then. It's likely we'll see Professor Layton games on the next Nintendo console, but hey, that's just us speculating.

In the meantime you can play Professor Layton and the Curios Village and Professor Layton and Pandora's Box now on your DS. We love them.
