While Microsoft has a conceptual moniker for its new controller tech, Sony’s is still going by the somewhat uninspired “Sony Motion Controller” but that may soon change if recent rumours are to be believed.
In an interview with Joystiq, Sega’s Yasuhito Baba called the controller “Sphere”, presumably referring to the glowing ping pong ball Sony has seen fit to attach to the end of the wand. Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi also used “Sphere” when asked if Gran Turismo 5 will support Sony’s motion control tech.
So what do you think? Is Sphere a likely candidate?Or perhaps it's just a codename. It would certainly go along with Sony’s claim that the name will be less “techy” than Sixaxis and DualShock. Let us know in the comments section below.
