Heavenly Sword Dev Announces Enslaved

Ninja Theory has announced its next project, titled Enslaved.

The next game by the Heavenly Sword developer is billed as a multi-platform "tactical action-adventure" focusing on a mismatched pair of characters who get involved in "combat, strategy, and environment traversal."

The game is set over 150 years in the future in a post-apocalyptic America, occupied by a minimal human population and a load of vicious robots. The two characters are Monkey and Trip, the former a "brutish loner," and the latter an AI partner who is "technologically savvy but sheltered." The pair are captured by a slave ship, and as Trip tries to escape, she realises she needs the assistance of Monkey. She hacks into his slave headband and links it to hers, meaning that if she dies, he dies, assuring his help.

Enslaved has some top talent assisting, with Andy Serkis - Gollum from Lord of the Rings, Kong in King Kong, and King Bohan in Heavenly Sword - attached to both direct and portray Monkey; composer Nitin Sawhney providing the score; and Alex Garland, writer of the novel The Beach and the screenplay for 28 Days Later co-writing the script and dialogue.

Enslaved is due for release in 2010 on both Xbox 360 and PS3, with Ninja Theory developing and Namco Bandai publishing. Check out the first screens and concept art below.
