Purchasers of Halo 3: ODST are reporting disk read errors when attempting to play Bungie's latest.
Going by a thread on the official forums, a small amount of users are experiencing disk read errors when attempting to play the game. It's not clear what the cause of the problem is - most of these users are also reporting that the same disk runs fine in other 360s, and different users appear to be having problems at different times.
There's been one response by Bungie that we can see so far, with Bungie Online Team member Test Ninja Alpha asking players for the specific issues, whether or not it works with the hard drive removed, and whether Halo 3 is suffering the same problems or if that also works fine. This was later updated with: "I'd like people to try playing Halo 3 now. For many people it's worked in the past, but the piece of information I'm looking for is does it work now."
If you're having problems with ODST, then you'll want to post over in that thread. We'll keep you updated as more concrete information comes out.
Thanks to Joystiq for this.
