Monster Hunter Tri Screenshots Show SlashAxe, Monsters

A bevy of new Monster Hunter Tri screnshots show off an all-new weapon class, in addition to monsters and home areas.

Monster Hunter Tri is the first Monster Hunter game to hit the Wii, and sees the players' hunter characters investigating the source of the earthquakes striking Moga village. Completed hunts now have more of an impact on the game world, with quest items being used by the villagers to repair the earthquake damage, resulting in them being happier and more active.

There's a brand-new "sub-aqua" environment, an all new SlashAxe weapon class, and a Torch that both illuminates the region and fends off particular types of monsters.

Happily, there's two-player split-screen and four-player Wi-Fi multiplayer, but if you have no friends you'll again have an AI hunting partner, here named ChaCha.

Check out the screens below.
