A supposedly leaked document from a recent meeting between Sony and Sega contains a fair amount of interesting discussion.
The notes, which were discovered over on NeoGAF, cover a variety of topics and look very much like a marketing discussion. We've already covered the musings on the motion controller, the discussion about Dreamcast titles, and the possibility of PS2 emulation, but there's plenty more. We'll try to cover the big things here.
First off, Sony again reiterated the plans to sell 13 million PS3s this year, but that shouldn't necessarily surprise anyone. More interesting is that product evaluator Michael Foster apparently had issues with Alpha Protocol, believing that it felt "barely RPG," and that the "Initial level is too challenging for players," according to the notes, presumably quoting him when they read "'Mass Effect felt more RPG.'" Still, we fondly remember Deus Ex, which had a bitch-hard first level.
There's talk about a Bayonetta collector's edition complete with action figure, as well as a PlayStation Network demo sometime around Christmas based around 2-4 weeks until a planned 5 January shipping date, but following this is talk of DLC to differentiate the PS3 SKU for Sonic Racing - "not ratchet and clank [sic] but other characters [...] maybe characters from Rare or Fable universes," which should raise a few eyebrows, but we can't imagine they mean Viva Pinata and, well, Fable.
There's some interesting news for those who've been following the story of Yakuza 3's localisation (or lack thereof), with a big heading titled "Yakuza" containing musings on a PSN Japanese Import section which could contain Japanese games, with subtitles and possibly menu translations, with costs ranging from between $9.99 USD and $39.99 USD.
And rounding it off, there's talk of a collector's edition of old Sonic games on a single Blu-Ray disc, with mention that Sony Computer Entertainment America "would love PSN exclusive power ups/different game modes (like Castlevania's flip it over/backwards)."
We'd like to add, as ever, that there's still a very good chance that this could be fake. If it's genuine, then there's some interesting news in there which is sure to make Sony fans happy, but take it all with a silo of salt for the time being.
