Valve's Chet Faliszek has explained the company's decision to include New Orleans in Left 4 Dead 2.
"We still wanted it to be on the East Coast, a bunch of us are from the area," Faliszek said while speaking to Planet Half-Life.
He added, "It's an interesting place that is not covered in a lot of video games. There's not a lot of video games that go down to the deep south, through the Savanna and New Orleans. There's a lot of cool gameplay there, there's a lot of cool areas."
Three Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns have been announced so far. There's the recently revealed Dark Carnival campaign, there's The Parish which is set in New Orleans' French Quarter, and there's Swamp Fever. Guess where that takes place.
"You can be in the swamps, the Savanna or New Orleans, it's a beautiful city. It seemed like a good opportunity to go through there, so we jumped on it."
Left 4 Dead 2 didn't get the best reception when it was announced at E3. Numerous fans (well, thousands) promised to boycott the title after creating a group on the Steam community pages. It emerged earlier this month two of the founding members of the group played the title at the Valve studios and have since changed their opinions. Maybe Left 4 Dead 2 really is that good?
