The possibility still exists for a western release of Yakuza 3, according to one of Sega of America's assistant community managers.
Posting on the US PlayStation Blog, assistant community manager Aaron Webber responded to a post that was "saddened" that Sega wasn't going to localise Yakuza 3.
"Let me brighten your day first off by confirming something big," began Webber in his response, before adding "Yakuza 3 is not cancelled - and the possibility for localizing it does, in fact, still exist."
"The original news story that went around about Yakuza 3 being declined for the US was false, and localizing the game still remains a big point of discussion for many people here at SEGA, and especially those of us on SEGA's community team," Webber explained.
"I know it's far from an announcement, but I just felt you should know that the chance does still exist."
Yakuza 3 has had an interesting past, with various reports that the PS3 title was unlikely to come west following initial, cagey responses. This possibility is sure to cheer fans of the series, which - while still niche - has a lot of hardcore support.
There is another Yakuza title on the way, but if Yakuza 3 doesn't make it to the west, we find it hard to believe that will either. Nonetheless: hope yet remains.
Thanks to 1UP for this.
