Bon Jovi Supports Love In Guitar Hero Debacle

Jon Bon Jovi has thrown his support behind Courtney Love in the ongoing Kurt Cobain-in-Guitar Hero 5 debacle.

This ordeal came about when it transpired that Courtney Love was unhappy about a virtual avatar of Kurt Cobain appearing in Guitar Hero 5, and claiming that she never agreed for it to happen.

"WE are going to sue the shit out of Activision," she posted on her Twitter, although Activision later claimed to have the necessary licensing rights in addition to Courtney Love's written agreement.

Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, two former members of Nirvana, jumped into the fray next, asking that Kurt's avatar be re-locked so that it can only be used for Nirvana songs. "It's hard to watch an image of Kurt pantomiming other artists' music alongside cartoon characters," they said, in a joint statement. "Kurt Cobain wrote songs that hold a lot of meaning to people all over the world. We feel he deserves better."

Now, Jon Bon Jovi, speaking to the BBC, has stated that he is in support of Courtney Love in the matter. "I don't know that I would have wanted it either," he said, adding "To hear someone else's voice coming out of a cartoon vesrion of me? I don't know. It sounds a little forced."

Bon Jovi revealed that he was asked to appear in the game in much the same manner, but turned the offer down, despite allowing one of his songs to be used in the game. "I had the paperwork, they wanted me to be on that game and I just passed," he said. "But no-one even broached the subject with me that I would be singing other people's stuff. I don't know how I would have reacted to that. I don't know that I would have wanted it either."
