Star Wars Galaxies To Close 12 Servers

Sony Online Entertainment is closing 12 servers for the long-running MMO, Star Wars Galaxies, it was announced earlier.

The closures follow a prolonged Free Character Transfer period, which saw many players moving to higher-populated servers, leaving several virtually abandoned. The following servers will be shut down on 15 October at 17:00 PT.

Corbantis
Europe-Infinity
Intrepid
Kauri
Kettemoor
Lowca
Naritus
Scylla
Tarquinas
Tempest
Valcyn
Wanderhome

Players are no longer able to create new characters on the above servers, which took effect from yesterday, and anyone with existing characters there can continue to transfer them free of charge to any of the remaining 13 servers until 15 Oct. After this date, all characters, items and structures will no longer be accessible.
