Nintendo has announced that the Wii Internet Channel is now completely free.
Anyone who wants to browse the internet on the little white box can now do so free, as the Opera-based, Flash-enabled browser (which previously cost 500 Wii Points) is now totally free.
Those of you who have previously purchased the Wii Internet Channel need not despair too much, though, as Nintendo hasn't forgotten about you. "For those Wii owners who have already spent 500 Wii Points on the Wii Internet Channel, Nintendo will be offering a NES title from Virtual Console worth 500 Wii Points and will be launched in late October."
Which sounds to us like there will be a particular NES title given free to those users, rather than a refund of 500 Wii Points. Hopefully it's a good one.
