WoW Unhealthy, Shows How To Make Biological Weapons

It may still be a while before WoW is back on live realms again in China, according to a recent report from the country.

Experts working for China's General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) claim they have found WoW to contain “unhealthy” content. The level of horror, blood and violence is apparently a risk to youths, causing them to violate social morals and commit crimes.

They also claim WoW contains “a detailed description of how to make biological weapons”.

Gapp director Song Jianxin explained that the cultural differences make the western version of WoW unsuitable for China,

“[Games] transmit thinking and ideology. Wholly western things cannot be brought in directly, they must be modified.”

WoW closed down in China when the operator licence moved from The9 to NetEase in June. Hopes of a quick turnaround period were dashed when NetEase had to re-apply for permission to operate the game when the original application was delayed while the game was tested by the GAPP.

Existing account holders in China can currently play WoW on an open beta test while the most recent application is being processed. However, the game is expected to re-launch any day now.
