Sony has confirmed the 3.0 firmware update will be the last "significant" update for the PS3 in 2009.
The update will include additions to the Xross Media Bar along with major additional features such as animated themes and premium avatars. Full details on what the update will contain can be found on the PlayStation Blog.
While speaking to G4TV, PlayStation Network operations director Eric Lempel confirmed the 3.0 update would be the last major update of 2009 but did say there may be a few minor updates.
"But this is a big and significant update, so you would be correct to assume that [it's the last major update for 2009]," he said.
