WoW Free To Play Until Authorised In China

NetEase has announced that World of Warcraft will remain free to play in China until the GAPP has authorised the game.

When ownership of WoW passed from The9 to NetEase in June, hopes of a quick turn-around vanished as news of the re-application surfaced. Apparently faced with strict new rules, Netease has had to make several changes to the game to meet requirements.

The beta test's duration was originally meant to last for around a week, but it is currently approaching three weeks. However, according to a statement on the official NetEase site, all internal testing is complete and the company hopes the full game will be up and running again soon. In the meantime players are free to play WoW without charge.
