Guitar Hero 5 Has Johnny Cash, Song Imports From World Tour

Guitar Hero 5 will support song imports from other Guitar Hero titles, as well as featuring Johnny Cash as a playable character.

The news comes from an IGN hands-on with the title which confirms first-off that Johnny Cash will make an in-game appearance, and then confirms that players will be able to import tracks from other series titles into Guitar Hero 5.

On PS3, 360, and Wii, some songs from Guitar Hero World Tour and Guitar Hero Smash Hits will be importable into both Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero - for a fee.

Tim Riley, the head of music licensing at Activision, said "It's something we've wanted to do for awhile now."

"They are separate licenses, so we need to go back and re-license previous content. So, songs from World Tour, songs from the download space, songs from Smash Hits that will technically work in Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero had to be renegotiated..."

Riley added, "We didn't want to do it for a couple of songs. We wanted to do it for a couple hundred songs."

Apparently, 152 of the 158 downloadable World Tour tracks will work with Guitar Hero 5, and all imported songs will be upgraded to make use of the new Guitar Hero 5 features.

Of course, if you're interested in Guitar Hero 5, you'll also be interested in the new songs included. Check out the full on-disc setlist here.
