Cities XL Limited Edition Revealed

Monte Cristo Games and Namco Bandai have revealed the limited edition of forthcoming online city-builder Cities XL.

The standard edition of the game will contain the installation DVD, two instruction manuals, a 7-day trial code for the Planet Offer which lets you play online, and a trial on a second DVD so that you can let a friend give the game a whirl.

The limited edition contains all of that and more. Expect:

  • Five extra maps for solo play
  • Five exclusive landmarks - Berlin's Victory Column, Kiev's St. Vladimir's Cathedral, New York's 40 Wall Street, Paris' Opera Garnier, and San Francisco's Grand Hotel
  • One exclusive city hall - the Los Angeles City Hall
  • Two permanent blueprints - the Mayan pyramid of Chichen Itza, and London's Big Ben - which are available from the start and can be built as many times as you like
  • A bonus in-game t-shirt for your avatar
  • An honorific medal to show on your Cities XL personal profile page
  • Three postcards
  • A 41x34cm poster

A fair bit then. The limited edition will be available from "key UK retailers" and will be available for pre-orders soon, we're told, with more information coming over the next few days.

If you're interested in Cities XL, you'll want to have a look at our interview with Monte Cristo's CEO Jerome Gastaldi, as well as our hands-on preview of the game.

Cities XL is due out for PC on 9 October.
