Konami has recorded sales down 45 per cent compared to the same time last year.
This is mainly due to last year's release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots which vastly boosted the 2008 sales figures.
Revenue for the gaming division of Konami was reduced by 21 per cent, reports MCVUK.
North America, despite being the largest sales sector of 2.59 million, saw the largest drop of sales in the form of 80 per cent. European sales dropped 50 per cent to 1.16 million while Japan saw a 38 per cent drop to 1.2 million.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 lead the Konami launch schedule for the second half of 2009 and hope to bring in some much needed sales.
