Peter Jackson's Halo Projects Not Dead

Despite the man himself saying otherwise, Microsoft is claiming that Peter Jackson's Halo projects are not, in fact, dead.

We reported yesterday that Jackson had stated at comic-Con that his Halo movie and episodic games, titled Halo Chronicles, were dead. "That Halo project is no longer happening," he said. "It sort of collapsed when the movie didn't end up happening."

Microsoft issued a statement in response which carefully avoids the words "dead," "cancelled," or "not happening anymore."

"Microsoft Game Studios is deeply committed to supporting and strategically growing the Halo franchise," reads the statement, "and our relationship with Peter and his team is something that we greatly value. Given the bandwidth of both of our companies we've decided to put this joint effort on hold and prioritize resources against other projects like Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach and Halo: Legends."

So Jackson thinks it's dead, but Microsoft thinks they might come back to it later. That's not confusing at all.

Speaking of Halo 3: ODST, we got to play it and interrogate the developers recently, so take a look at our preview and interview.
