Splinter Cell: Conviction, Red Steel 2 Delayed

Ubisoft has announced that Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2 have both slipped to 2010.

The company's first-quarter sales report has revealed that the two games, which were previously planned for release in the third financial quarter, are now set for the fourth which places them in early 2010.

Similarly, the new Ghost Recon title and I Am Alive have both been pushed back from early 2010 to "fiscal 2010-2011."

According to Ubi's CEO Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft is "currently experiencing a very sharp slowdown in our sales for Nintendo DS as well as sales of back-catalog titles, in the context of a market that is tougher than anticipated. This will have significant impact on our first-half showing."

Not only that, but Ubisoft's first-quarter sales were down 51% from what was received last year, which isn't necessarily as bad as expected, as the company apparently anticipated them to drop significantly - albeit not quite that significantly.

Ubisoft isn't the only company delaying games, with recent reports that we won't be seeing BioShock 2 or Mafia 2 anytime soon, either.
