Director Len Wiseman has confirmed that Dwanye 'The Rock' Johnson will not be in the Gears of War movie.
Speaking at Comic-Con, Wiseman said that trying to cast the correct man for Marcus Fenix and considering The Rock's past roles in other game-come-movies wouldn't be a wise business choice.
"A Doom connection would not be smart for us," he said.
Wiseman also put down Johnson's past as a wrestler and said he didn't want to, "throw a bunch of strongmen into the ring and see who comes out victorious... I'm looking for an actor for the role and then [I'll] put him into shape".
When talking about the film itself Wiseman confirmed that some of the story will not follow that of the game.
However he did reassure fans "Emergence Day is making its way into the film. That will be big."
Gears of War executive producer, Rod Ferguson, condoned the decision to partly seperate from the games story.
"We're so oriented at grabbing the gaming audience, we don't leave behind what shouldn't be in the movie. We're about making the best movie possible, not about making Gears of War the game into a movie."
Epic Games has told Wiseman to create the best possible film, however he has been told to not kill Fenix.
