Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Revealed

Details of Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey have appeared in the latest Famitsu.

The Japanese gaming magazine has a six-page spread on the title, which was accidentally announced last week.

Strange Journey is a DS title, which - from what we can gather from scans over on Nintendo Everything - casts you as a member of a team investigating strange goings-on in Antarctica.

The game looks like it's going to return to SMT series roots, with first-person dungeon exploration (the touch-screen functioning as a map), lunar phases, and more demons than you can shake a Jack Frost at.

It's worth bearing in mind that, while all of the spin-offs like Persona and Devil Survivor use the Shin Megami Tensei name in the west, only certain series titles bear that title in Japan, with both the original Persona and Devil Survivor branded under "Megami Ibunroku." The very fact that Strange Journey looks to use the Shin Megami Tensei name is intriguing, to say the least, although it looks to be using demon art from Devil Survivor.

The title is due for Japanese release on 8 October, if the image from that teaser site is anything to go by. Little else is known at this stage but we'll keep you updated on a potential Western release, and you should keep your eyes open for our review of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor coming soon.

You can check out the scans for yourself below.
