The last in the series of developer diaries for Sony's upcoming online shooter MAG has been released.
‘Command and Control' is the name of the final diary (part one, two and three can be found here) focusing on balancing and game mechanics.
MAG supports up to 256 players at once and the developer had to address the question of how to prevent games from turning into a mess.
"Tap into the command system and break the battlefield down into alot of opportunities for smaller scale skirmishes" is the answer, according to Zipper's Andy Beaudon.
This would create more eight on eight squad based battles and as your squads work together you will become part of a larger scale battle.
Players will be able to rank up and lead squads, platoons and armies, allowing them to set objectives for other players. Commanders will also have access to special support weapons such as the cluster bomb as seen at E3.
