EA has announced that two packs of free DLC are due for Fight Night Round 4.
The first, coming to both PS3 and Xbox 360 in early August, will feature a new gym, new equipment, new "gameplay sliders" - which let players tweak "Counter Punch Window, Boxer Stamina, Punch Accuracy" according to Kotaku - as well as an alternate version of Sugar Ray Leonard, if you're on 360.
The second free pack will let players use the controller face buttons to throw all the punches your little hearts desire. "Among the new content in development, our new button control scheme will give fans a choice for how they want to throw punches in the game," said Dean Richards, senior producer on the title. "We strongly believe that the refined Total Punch Control is the most intuitive way to throw punches in Fight Night Round 4, but we also want fans of the franchise to have an option."
It's good that they're going to be free, but free or not, this is likely to create a weird half-backlash. Fight Night Round 3 didn't exactly balance things well for those players who used total punch control rather than face buttons in multiplayer matches. Expect as many annoyed people as there are happy.
