Latest UK Console Numbers

Over 24 million current gen consoles have been sold throughout the United Kingdom a new report has unveiled.

In a recent report from European retailer GAME, the total amount of each current generation console through the United Kingdom has been announced.

Leading the way was the Nintendo DS with 9.1 million units being sold, while the PS3 is the weakest-selling console with only 2.2 million sales since its release in March 2007.

The figures:

• DS - 9.1 million
• Wii - 5.4 million
• Xbox 360 - 3.9 million
• PSP - 3.3 million
• PS3 - 2.2 million

The report also had some interesting figures for GAME'S last year of trading.

The PSP has sold only 500,000 units in last 12 months - a vast drop from last years figures. PS3 sales have also seen a decline while the Xbox 360 has seen an increase with figures picking up. Kotaku lists last year's number of console sales as follows:

• DS - 2.7 million
• Wii - 2.3 million
• Xbox 360 - 1.7 million
• PS3 - 900,000
• PSP - 500,000
