THQ has filed a lawsuit against JAKKS Pacific after JAKKS announced plans to extend the WWE license.
JAKKS Pacific confirmed that it was looking to exercise its option to renew the WWE computer game license for an additional five years.
However, THQ has stated that JAKKS had no right to file the renewal notice to the WWE, and that it has no obligation to approve the renewing of the license.
The current deal expires 31 December 2009 and THQ has also challenged a stipulation in the contract stating that the company may not develop another wrestling title for a year after the expiration date.
Could this mean that THQ has had enough of the Smackdown vs RAW series? And could we be seeing a new wrestling game to challenge the WWE titles?
