Heavy Rain Trophies May Be Conceptually Different

Quantic Dream has said that the Trophy support for Heavy Rain might not be "conceptually in-line" with what gamers expect from Trophies.

The story-driven PS3 game is just that: story-driven. As such, it has a multitude of paths and possibilities. Guillaume de Fondaumiere, the co-CEO of Quantic Dream, told SPOnG "We haven't figured out, as of yet, how the Trophy system is going to work. It's not necessarily a game that is conceptually in-line with what Trophies should do."

"It's not about succeeding or failing. It's not about doing the right thing or doing the wrong thing. It's about the journey. The journey is the most important thing. So, to a certain degree, I would say we're not rewarding the players in a conventional way. The reward is the emotional experience, is how good the story is from the player's perspective," said de Fondaumiere.

"But we'll of course support Trophies and we're trying to find the right way to integrate Trophies into the game," concluded de Fondaumiere.

We're not quite sure how you'd go about integrating that sort of thing into a game like Heavy Rain, if what we know about it is true, but with the game not due out until 2010 we figure Quantic Dream has time to figure it out yet.
