"Up to half" of the original Crackdown developers are working on the sequel according to Ruffian Games.
In a recent interview with Edge, three members of the Ruffian Games team talked about the upcoming sequel to one of the most surprising hits on the Xbox360.
Billy Thompson, creative director said, "Close to half of our team worked on the original game. We've got core members from every discipline who worked on it, the majority of the design team."
Realtime Worlds CEO David Jones has gone on the record saying he was "a bit miffed" over the fact Ruffian Games were chosen to make the sequel.
Executive producer Pete Connelly, responded to the comment, "We're super fortunate to have found Ruffian, who are the right people to take the franchise forward and build its next great game. We've absolutely no animosity towards Realtime Worlds." he said.
When asked about the game they all confirmed that it would be the same city.
"It's still Pacific City but further on in the timeline." said Billy Thompson.
Producer Jim Cope added, "It's a really important part of what we think players identify with in Crackdown. The aspect of the city is part of the whole experience, and we need to maintain that familiarity."
It was confirmed more variety in objectives would be featured.
"We don't just want ‘find-the-boss, kill-the-boss'. We made the first game and we know what was lacking." commented Billy Thomspon.
Gamers familiar with the first version will be able to pick up the game and play according to Ruffian.
The E3 trailer and the infected zombie which have already surfaced have been discussed, however nothing of the story was being revealed. Developers have assured gamers that the AI will intelligent and not stupid because they are zombies.
"It's hard to say without giving everything away early on, but it's about how well the AI get around the environment."
Crackdown 2 comes out on Xbox360 and is scheduled for a 2010 release.
