Konami Lifts Lid On PES 2010

Konami has unveiled the key features in the next Pro Evolution Soccer title, PES 2010.

Liverpool's Spanish striker Fernando Torres will join Lionel Messi on the cover of the next title.

"Everyone knows that when it comes to football simulation, Konami's PES series is by far the most realistic title available," commented Torres. "The new game looks absolutely stunning."

One of the main features Konami wants to introduce is an enhanced realism to the game, as you play it. You will see players making off-the-ball runs and timing your passes to precision will make the difference.

Player characteristics have now been named for your stars to utilise. The example that Konami produced was Torres; he is labeled a 'Fox in the Box' and 'Goal Poacher,' as he is known for his ability to receive a pass in the penalty area, and to lay off the ball to a teammate in a good position for a goal-scoring opportunity.

Teams will play more like their real-life counterparts, and any time throughout the match the player will be able to bring up the bar and adjust tactics, making the team more defensive or supporting the attack.

The first details of this year's Master League have also been confirmed, with both the Champions League and the Europa League incorporated this year, and if your team plays in the European leagues, you will be able to attract more lucrative players to the club. On the topic of transfers the promise of a more realistic system will be made available for the new game.

Jon Champion and Mark Lawrenson reunite in the commentary booth once again but this time they will be much more effective, with player ability and match history discussed as the game is played.

We've also been promised that details of the game's DLC, online elements, and options will be released soon, so check back soon, and have a look at our FIFA 2010 interview to see how Pro Evo's competition is shaping up.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 is due out this autumn on PS3, Xbox 360, PSP, PC, and PS2.
