EA Merging Burnout and Need For Speed?

EA is apparently in the process of merging the Burnout and Need for Speed franchises.

According to EA CEO John Pleasants, speaking during the William Blair Growth Stock Conference, the Burnout team at Criterion will now begin work on the Need For Speed series.

“"We've taken the Burnout team and combined it with our Need For Speed franchise," he said.

"So we now have that in our favor because that Burnout team is probably one of the more online-centric and notably high-quality game developers that we have out at Criterion."

G4TV states the team is working on a new, as yet unannounced NFS title. It was announced that the series would undergo a reboot earlier in the year and we’ve already had a hands on with Shift, which you can find here.
