Brütal Legend Facts Revealed


Double Fine Productions has released a bunch of facts for Brütal Legend, Tim Schafer's third person action game.

The key features of the game are:

  • Action combat. The core gameplay is classic Action. Using a range of weapons from broad axes to a demon slaying guitar, the developer promise "deep, rewarding, fun combat."
  • Unique world. Brütal Legend open world is inspired by heavy metal cover art and lyrics, with everything "from mountains made of guitar amps to big block V8 engines rising from the ground."
  • Impressive cast. Well-known names like Jack Black, Rob Halford Lemmy Kilmister, Lita Ford, "and more" populates the cast.
  • Online multiplayer. Multiplayer combines action with "a strategic unit-control mechanic," directing your army in "The Battle of the Bands".
  • Upgrades. Gain "Lighter Tributes" throughout the world and visit The Motorforge to upgrade your weapons.
  • Tim Schafer. Worth a bullet-point of his own. Schafer is known for creating a depth and humour in his characters and has written classics like Full Throttle, Grim Fandango and PsychoNauts.
  • Soundtrack. The game will include a soundtrack with "some of the greatest Metal and Rock and Roll songs ever assembled."


Brütal Legend is a spaced out game about the roadie Eddie Riggs who spills blood on his magic belt buckle and is sucked into a world looking like Heavy Metal album covers. The evil emperor Doviculus and his demon army, The Tainted Coil, have enslaved the last remaining humans and Eddie has to take up the cause to free humanity.

The game is published by Electronic arts to be released 16 October (13 October in North America).
