DJ Hero Peripherals, Gameplay And Tracks


Activision has revealed more details about the DJ Hero peripherals, as well as confirming a few tracks which will appear in the game.

An additional clip-on controller for the already-revealed turntable was previewed in the latest issue of Game Informer magazine. The new component comes in a metallic gold toned colour with a cross-fader, "Euphoria" button, effects dial, and the d-pad and normal controller buttons hidden under a flip-up cover.

Similar to Guitar Hero, notes will cascade from the top of the screen to the bottom, but in DJ Hero, there are only three notes. The fourth note is supplied by the cross-fader.

Some notes require the player to scratch on the deck's platter, and portions of songs allow some cug the effects fik s elatter,sandal. The player will also be able to rewind to loop back and replay portions of songs. The aforementioned "Euphoria" button is DJ Hero's version of Star Power.

Six tracks (12 mashed up songs) have been presented so far:

  • Gorillaz' "Feel Good Inc." vs. Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine"
  • Chuck Brown & The Souls Searchers' "Bustin' Loose" vs. The Zombies' "Time of the Season" (DJ Shadow Mix)
  • David Bowie's "Let's Dance" vs. KRS-One's "Jack of Spades" (DJ Shadow Mix)
  • Nirvana's "All Apologies" vs. Rick James' "Give It to Me Baby" (DJ Shadow Mix)
  • Jurassic 5's "Jayou" vs. Herbie Hancock's "Rockit"
  • Tears for Fears' "Shout" vs. Eric Prydz' "Pjanoo"
  • Plus confirmation of unnamed tracks from Beastie Boys, Beck, Blondie, Billy Squire, and more
